EWME 2016

11th - 13th May

11th European Workshop on Microelectronics Education

Embedded Tutorials

1. Teaching Computer Architecture using MIPSfpga and the Digilent Nexys 4 DDR platform with a Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA

Imagination Technologies Xilinx Digilent

A deep-dive half-day workshop specifically for teachers and researchers at EWME 2016 based on the new “MIPSfpga” core - the RTL source code of the MIPS microAptiv for implementation on an FPGA. It is a member of the same family found in many embedded devices, and is non-obfuscated and freely available for academic use. This workshop is part of a global programme of events to enable teachers of Computer Architecture and System-on-Chip design to harness this useful technology.

2. ARM/Cypress Bluetooth Low Energy Tutorial

Cypress

PSoC® 4 BLE is an easy-to-use, ARM® Cortex™-M0 based, single-chip solution which integrates programmable analog front ends, programmable digital peripherals, CapSense® technology for touch-sensing, and a Bluetooth® LE (Low Energy) or Bluetooth Smart radio.

This workshop will enable attendees to understand Cypress’s BLE on-chip solutions and architecture and learn how to use the development environment for, e.g. system designs for IoT and touch-sensing. Attendees will receive a kit to keep.
